What an Amazing Marching Season. As we prepare for our last week here are some things to put on your calendars.
Please Join the Waseca Marching Jay Color guard for an All you can Eat Breakfast this Sunday Nov 6th from 8 am - 12:00 noon. at the VFW in Waseca $6.00 adults Kids $4.00 undr 5 free. Served by ColorGuard team and their families. Come out and Show your support for our Great Color Guard.

FAMILY NIGHT. Thursday Nov 10th 7:30PM doors open at 6:45pm
PARENTS you will be receiving complimentary tickets to the Thursday night Preview - family show, Please check with you student on Monday. We welcome you to join you student following the show down on the gym floor for pictures and hugs.

INDOOR PARTY: Sat. Night after the Indoor performance the Drum Majors are hosting a after party with pizza at the school for the band. Students will be done by 12 midnight if you need to plan for pick ups.

SAVE A TROPHY HELP THE BAND/ Alumni Reception
TROPHIES - get a chance to take home a Trophy or Award plaque:
Award plaques will be silent auctioned off SatNov 12 at the Alumin Reception before the Indoor from 6-7 pm. Stop out and make a bid or by some raffles for your chance to win and help the band.
Don't miss this years silent auction for 2011 drumline autographed drum heads.Auctions will be closed at intermission and Tickets will be drawn at intermission on Sat night. you can pay for your items following the show in the east hallway.

INDOOR DVD, The indoor is professionaly taped on Sat Night with multiple cameras. This DVD can be ordered for $29.99. There will be an order form in the indoor booklet. You can leave your order with the cashiers at indoor or send it to the band room by the deadline.
DVD's are usually done and ready for pick up before Christmas break.

Advanced Tickets for Friday and Sat are available at Radio Shack and Waseca Music. You can buy a 2 night deal for $12.00
Staff and Special discount tickets will only be available at the door.

Horn Dazzlers: If you would like to purchase one of the Horn Dazzlers for your very own. ( the lights that go inside the Horns) They are now available for purchase.. You can order during the indoor at special band price of $25.95 or they will be available for retail at the Music store starting this holiday season.. If you would like this to be a surprise holiday gift please contact me rstrebor@yahoo.com

Waseca Marching Jays take 1^st Place State AA Champions at Dome

Metzdorff Named Best Minnesota Soloist

On Saturday, Oct.22,The Waseca Marching Jays sent almost 100 high school marching band students and 60 families to the Metrodome for the Youth In Music High School Marching Band State Championships, where they earned the title of 1^st Place in AA class State Field Competition.

Winning honors for “Minnesota’s Best Soloist“ was Waseca Senior Matt Metzdorff, son of Dr Tom and Kris Metzdorff. He was presented with a “Yimmy “for his senior sax solo as part of the Marching Jays” Sonic Celebration” field show. The Jays where also recognized in the State finals as the top 5 marching band in Minnesota overall regardless of school size or classification.

The Waseca Marching Jays competed in both the state prelims and the state final as part of the Youth In Music program, The Youth in Music coordinatiors took a moment to present a memorial slide show in honor of Waseca’s Marching Jays member Abby Wendland who lost her life in a car accident just 2 weeks prior. Through tears and memories Drum Majors Erica Hall and Katie Schroeder and their Marching Jays carried on to complete their day at the Dome

The Youth In Music competition at the Dome on Saturday was the final competition in the Marching Jays 2011 competition season after having performed at 5 Marching events including: the Eastview Marching Festival, Irondale Music of the Knight, Waseca Marching Classic, Sioux Falls Festival of Bands and Valleyfest Showdown

The Waseca Marching Jays are supported through the efforts of the Waseca Band Boosters, Inc . Special thanks go out to all of the staff , volunteers and booster parents and businesses who have helped financially to make this 2011 marching season possible, and also to our administration, and school board for allowing us the opportunity to represent our school and community through out the season.

The Waseca Marching Jays are making preparations for their 2011 INDOOR celebration, a marching concert held inside the school saluting their 2011 seasons finale with the entire community and Alumni. The Waseca Indoor Concert will be held Nov 11&12, at 7 p.m. at the Waseca High school.

If you would like to help support music education and continue the award winning efforts of the Marching Jays program ,you can make a tax deductible donation to the Waseca Band Boosters P.O, Box 203,Waseca Mn 56093 100% of all donations go directly to the band program.

Motorcycle Benefit Ride for The Marching Jays

Area Motorcyclist are gearing up for the first annual “Ride for the Band” Event for the Waseca Marching Jays on Sat. July 23, 2011. This event is a benefit for the Waseca High School Band Program and the Waseca Marching Jays.

The ride begins with registration starting at 8:30 at the Waseca High School. The Marching Jays Drumline will do a drill presentation at 9:00am, The group riders will depart at 9:30 am with a ride through the Southern Minnesota Lake Region lead by Waseca Mayor Roy Srp. There will be maps available of the loop which can be self guided or riders can join the group ride. Ride donation is $20 single or $30 double, must be 18 to ride.

For non Motorcyclist, Waseca Band Alumni are also hosting a Bicycle Ride Tour in conjunction with the “Ride for the Band” which will be lead by Drumline Alumni and Drumline Instructor: Randy Zimmerman. The bicycle riders will depart at 10 a.m. am and follow a trail starting on the bike path behind the school.

Non Riders are also welcome to stop out, show their support, see the bikes, listen to the drumline, and make a donation to the Band. Ride T-shirts “ I am with the Band” will be available $20 for non riders The event will conclude at approximately 12:00 noon. with door prize drawings and silent Auction at Club 57 in Waseca. The Community is invited to a Burger “Grill Out” on the patio at Club 57 for $5.00 with burger chips and pop with a portion of each meal going to the band program.

The first 50 registered Ride for the Band participants will receive a limited edition Marching Jays Doo Rag. Band Alumni and Boosters Alumni are encouraged to Ride, , all riders and groups are welcome. There will be awards for the largest group, farthest traveled and Alumni.

“Ride for the BAND” is a newly organized participant fundraising event hosted by the Waseca Band Boosters for the Waseca High School Band program and The Waseca Marching Jays. All money raised for the event goes directly to fund Band program cost. The Waseca Band Boosters host events and fundraiser to keep band programs affordable for all students and continue the Waseca Marching Jays Tradition of Excellence. Friday May 20^th, Join us for the Annual Spring Pop Concert.

It starts at 8:00 PM in the Waseca High School Gym, costs $7 .

The Evening will spotlight Symphonic Band, Jazz I, senior soloists and the sax quartet will also perform. It is the final concert of the year

The Annual Spring Pop concern is a great night of music. Come out and support music education. Tickets are available at the door.

Special Reminder ***Bring your check book if you would like to order DVD's of this years Band Trip or a special Creative Memories book with hundreds of photos of the band,

This Sunday May 22, the Waseca Band will also be hosting an all you can eat Pancake Breakfast at the Waseca VFW from 8a.m - noon , Breakfast includes eggs, pancakes sausage and juice or milk. $6.00 at the door Bring your Family and Friends to help support the Waseca High School Band program.

The Band Booster Chili Feed is just around the corner. It will be held on 2/11/11 from 5-7 in the High School commons. A big THANKS to all who have signed up to work the event!! We are sending the pre sales tickets in the mail to you today. There are 6 adult tickets and 4 child tickets. Please encourage your children to sell as many as they can. All money and remaining tickets needs to be returned to the High School band room lock box by 2/2/11 so that we can give food service an estimate on numbers. If your money and/or unsold tickets are not returned your child will be responsible for the cost of the tickets.

Once you get parked there are restaurants and shops with in a block or so from the stadium in walking distance to get dinner or treats.Anything from top level Steak house to sub sandwich shop.Most shops close by 9 pm There will be Valley Fest Showdown t-shirts and sweatshirts for sale but in limited quantity

Valleyfest Parking Information

Below is information about parking for ValleyFest. Please note that public parking availability will change based on the time you are arriving. All parking is free.

Public parking is available during the day and evening at the following locations:
Learning Resource Center (corner of Mills Civic Parkway & 35th Street)
Valley Church (immediately behind the stadium on Fuller Road)
WDM Christian Church (across the stadium on Mills Civic Parkway)
Public streets near the stadium
After 4:30 p.m., parking is available at the WDM Public Library. Please do not park during the day at the Library to allow people using the Library space to park.
In the public streets near the stadium, please follow posted “NO PARKING” and “Private Resident Parking Only” street signs. The “No Parking” areas will be enforced. Residents will call to have non-resident vehicles ticketed and towed.
To avoid bus and band equipment traffic, please use Fuller Road to access parking at Valley Church. Please use South 35th Street to enter the Learning Resource Center

Thursday night: Coronation @ 7:30, report time 6:45 – dress semi-formally (horns, battery, frontline)
Friday afternoon: Pep Rally @ 12:40 (dismissed @ 12:10 to get in uniform); Parade @ 2:00
Friday night: Game @ 7:00, report time 5:30 – Pack trailers after Game
