    Senior Breanna Stoesz Named Commended Student

    We proudly announce that Breanna Stoesz has been named a Commended Student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program! A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by Principal Jeanne Swanson to this scholastically talented senior.
     
    About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
     
    Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
     
    “The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of
    educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) is pleased to announce that Joe Hedervare, Activities Director at Waseca Junior and Senior High School, has been recognized by this association as a Certified Athletic Administrator. 

    To earn this distinction, Joe has demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and expertise in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of the candidate's educational background, experience and professional contributions, as well as a rigorous, comprehensive written examination.

    Joe is one of an elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism.

    The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 10,000 individual members.  It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.

     


    Waseca County Broadband Survey

    Waseca is working towards increasing broadband services for people in our County.  Following is information from the members of the broadband task force and a survey link to help them in their research.

    Waseca County has been making efforts to research and potentially expand our broadband services within the County.  It is one of the goals of our Economic Development Authority to do so, and that goal is closely related to parts of the City of Waseca’s Vision 2030 project. Making sure that our community members have access to necessary tools like broadband, and that we attract and maintain high-quality businesses to our area, are major keys to the success of our County.
