Getting To Know Your Counselors!
Christine Meeks, 7-12 Counselor (Last Names: A-L)
I was born and raised in St. Peter, Minnesota and went to Saint Peter High School where I participated in many types of activities. After high school I went to University of Minnesota Duluth where I received a BAS in Psychology and a BA in Communications. During my Senior year at Duluth I started volunteering at local schools and realized how much I loved the school atmosphere. I decided that I wanted to be a School Counselor and was luckily able to get into one of the best programs in the Midwest at Minnesota State University Mankato (which also happened to be very close to home). After I received my MS in Professional School Counseling I worked for an online school in Fergus Falls for a year until I was lucky enough to get the job at Waseca Jr/Sr High School. I enjoy the students, my fellow staff members, the community, and most of all, my JOB!
Paul Marlin, 7-12 Counselor (Last Names: M-Z)
This is my first year as a school counselor at the Jr/Sr high, however I have been a mentor teacher in the district for the past 2 years. Before working here in Waseca, I was a school counselor for 7 years in Iowa. My role as a school counselor is to help support students at the Jr/Sr High with academic struggles and planning, personal/social concerns, and college/career planning. I also coach junior high boys/girls tennis. On a personal note, I am married and a proud father of 2 girls. I definitely have a nerdy side to me, I love board games, video games, movies, music, sports, and above all spending time with family. I have a huge passion for helping students and enjoy getting to know people, so please don’t hesitate to say hi to me in the hall or let me know if there is something that I can help you with.
