ExCEL Award

Waseca High School is proud to announce that juniors Violet Rohwer and Brody Dufault have been selected as the school’s 2025 ExCEL Award recipients. The ExCEL Award, which stands for Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership, is a prestigious statewide honor presented annually by the Minnesota State High School League. Sponsored by TruStone Financial Credit Union, the program recognizes Minnesota high school juniors who demonstrate outstanding leadership, are actively involved in school activities, and show a deep commitment to serving their communities.

Each year, schools across the state are invited to nominate one junior girl and one junior boy who embody the core values of the ExCEL Award. Nominees must be making satisfactory progress toward graduation, participate in at least one League-sponsored athletic or fine arts activity, hold leadership roles within their school, volunteer in meaningful ways within their community, and meet all MSHSL General Eligibility Requirements. These standards ensure that ExCEL honorees reflect not only strong academic performance, but also character, initiative, and service-minded leadership.

Violet and Brody stood out among this year’s nominees through their active engagement in Bluejay programs, dedication to academic success, and consistent involvement in community service efforts. Their leadership within Waseca High School, combined with their commitment to representing the school and community with integrity, exemplifies the qualities celebrated by the ExCEL Award.

Waseca High School extends its congratulations to Violet Rohwer and Brody Dufault for earning this distinguished recognition. Their contributions and leadership strengthen the Bluejay community, and the school looks forward to their continued success within the classroom, in activities, and throughout the greater Waseca community.
