Rupe

Waseca High School is proud to announce the hiring of Brian Rupe as the new Head Girls Basketball Coach.

A native of Waterville and a 2002 graduate of Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School (WEM), Rupe brings a strong background in both playing and coaching basketball. As a high school athlete, he was a four-year letter winner, two-time state tournament participant, and part of the 2002 state runner-up team. He also earned Gopher Conference All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Conference honors during his career.

Rupe’s coaching experience spans over a decade, beginning with ten years in the Waseca Basketball Association (WBA) where he coached youth teams from Kindergarten through 8th grade. He has spent the past four years on the Waseca High School Boys Basketball coaching staff, including three seasons as the C-squad coach and one year as a JV assistant.

“I love Waseca Bluejay Basketball,” Rupe said. “I enjoy coaching basketball and working with kids. The Waseca girls program has had many strong teams over the years, and I would love to help them find success again.”

Rupe emphasized that he brings more than just basketball knowledge to the program. “I have a great passion not only to make better basketball players, but better people along the way. I’ve coached a lot of basketball but still have a strong desire to learn, grow, and develop as a coach.”

When asked about taking over the program, Rupe added, “I am extremely excited to start this journey at the next level. It’s something I’ve been preparing for over the years, just not in the varsity role—until now. I may not originally be from Waseca, but I don’t think anybody can deny I am BLUEJAY through and through!”

Please join us in welcoming Coach Brian Rupe to his new role with Waseca High School Girls Basketball.
