Girls Tennis Score vs. Cotter

The Waseca Bluejays Girls Tennis team continued their strong start to the 2025 season with a commanding 7-0 victory over the Cotter Ramblers on Tuesday in Waseca. The Bluejays dominated both the varsity and JV matches, each finishing with identical 7-0 sweeps.

In singles play, Waseca was led by Vivian Mader, who set the tone at the No. 1 spot with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win over Stella Brewer. Maddy Benson battled through a close first set before closing out her No. 2 match in straight sets, while Ava Miller fought back after dropping the second set to win a super tiebreaker at No. 3. At No. 4 singles, Pearl Moore secured another dominant win for the Bluejays, dropping just one game in her match.

The Bluejays’ doubles teams also came out strong, with all three pairs earning victories. The No. 1 duo of Paige Dufault and Layla Keith and the No. 2 team of Hannah Rugger and Anna Benson each rolled to 6-1, 6-0 wins. At No. 3 doubles, Madison Rasche and Lily Sanchez held off a strong push from Cotter, closing out their match in a second-set tiebreaker to secure the sweep.

With the win, Waseca improves to 2-0 on the season. The Bluejays will be back in action Thursday at home against Cannon Falls at 4:30 p.m. The matchup will be a rematch of last season’s Section 1A championship, where Waseca edged Cannon Falls 4-3 to advance to the state tournament.
