Girls Tennis vs. Cannon Falls

The Cannon Falls Bombers slipped past the Waseca Bluejays 4-3 in a thrilling matchup Thursday afternoon in Waseca. The match was a rematch of last year’s Section 1A Championship, where Waseca claimed the title.

Cannon Falls returned all 10 players from last year’s runner-up squad, while Waseca brought back six of its 10 Section champions. The depth and experience on both sides showed, as four of the seven varsity matches went to three sets, with each team winning two of those battles.

The Bombers struck first at No. 3 doubles and later earned critical victories at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles to secure the team win. Waseca’s points came from No. 1 singles, No. 3 singles, and No. 2 doubles.

In the junior varsity contest, Waseca claimed a convincing 6-1 victory.
