The Waseca Bluejay Volleyball team opened their 2025 season on the road Thursday night, falling to Randolph in three sets (17-25, 21-25, 18-25). Despite the 0-3 result, the match showed stretches of strong play and encouraging signs for the Bluejays moving forward.
After a slow start in Set 1, Waseca rallied in Set 2, erasing an early deficit to tie the set at 21-21 before Randolph closed on a late run to take the frame. In Set 3, the Bluejays continued to fight but ultimately came up short.
Waseca posted a .136 hitting percentage as a team, highlighted by efficient performances from Ashley Fliflet (.385) and Remy Murphy (1.000). Kaia Sartori also added steady offense with a .231 hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Bluejays held their ground with 31 digs and 2.0 team blocks. Alyssa Kilmer led the team in serve receive rating (1.44) while contributing two aces from the service line. The Bluejays served at a high 98.2% as a team, with multiple players recording perfect service percentages.
The Bluejays return to action on Tuesday, August 26, when they travel to take on the Marshall Tigers.
