The Waseca Bluejay cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Bill Glomski Invitational on Thursday at Stewartville’s Bear Cave Park.
The girls varsity team shone brightest, finishing 4th among 13 complete teams in a field of 101 runners. Stella Omtvedt led the way with a 2nd-place finish in 20:55.6. Maren Schimming crossed 19th (23:04.2), Quinn Yoder 25th (23:25.4), Taylor Markeson 33rd (23:48.2), Ava VanDenHemel 35th (23:57.6), Jenna Yoder 48th (24:50.9), and Megan Tegmeier 49th (24:54.0). Their complete team effort helped secure Waseca’s top-five finish.
The boys varsity team faced a competitive 118-runner field but did not field a full team. Keenan Collins led Waseca with a 44th-place finish in 20:34.8, followed by Wyatt Hager (59th, 21:24.4) and Sam Feldkamp (100th, 24:42.1).
Despite the challenges, Waseca’s runners displayed grit and determination, leaving a strong impression at the invitational and setting the tone for the season ahead.
