The Waseca Bluejays girls’ tennis team earned a milestone victory Tuesday afternoon, defeating Tri-City United 6-1 at home. The win marked the 250th career victory for Head Coach Kyle Collins, who has led the Bluejay program for the past 22 years.

Under Coach Collins’ guidance, Bluejay Tennis has become a model of consistency and sportsmanship. Known for his passion for the game, dedication to his players, and steady leadership, Collins has built a program where athletes not only compete at a high level but also grow in confidence, teamwork, and resilience. His milestone win is a reflection of years of commitment to his players, the school, and the Waseca community.

On the court Tuesday, the Bluejays were dominant. Waseca swept through the singles lineup, with Vivian Mader (No. 1) defeating Ellie Adams 6-3, 6-2. Maddy Benson (No. 2) followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win, while Pearl Moore (No. 3) battled through a tight match to claim a 7-5, 6-4 victory. At No. 4 singles, Layla Keith controlled play in a 6-2, 6-0 win.

The doubles teams kept the momentum rolling. Paige Dufault and Ava Miller (No. 1 doubles) powered their way to a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Hannah Rugger and Anna Benson (No. 2 doubles) were equally sharp in a 6-2, 6-0 win. Tri-City United earned its lone point at No. 3 doubles, where Lucy Fleek and Caleigh Hoefs topped Waseca’s Madison Rasche and Lily Sanchez 6-3, 6-3.

The Bluejays also secured a 3-2 win in the JV match.

With the victory, Waseca improves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big South Conference Black Division. The Bluejays will travel to Lake City on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.
