The Waseca Bluejay volleyball team hosted the St. Peter Saints on Tuesday night in Big South Conference action. The Bluejays battled throughout the evening but ultimately fell in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-15.
Waseca’s offense was led by Asia Mayberry (#6), who connected for 5 kills on 20 swings and added an ace, showing consistency on the outside. Alyssa Kilmer (#8) provided an all-around performance, contributing 2 kills, an ace, and a team-high 12 digs to anchor the back row. Avery Barto (#2) distributed the ball effectively with 10 assists and also chipped in 2 kills and 8 digs.
In the backcourt, Madalynn Root (#1) was outstanding, recording 21 serve receptions and 10 digs to keep rallies alive against the Saints’ aggressive attack. Kilmer and Tajha Nelson (#11) added strong defensive efforts, with Nelson picking up 6 digs in two sets of action.
At the net, Ashley Fliflet (#3) was active with 3 block assists, while Ellery Waldron (#13) added 2 kills and steady front-row play. Savanna Vagts (#4) contributed in her rotations with a clean performance, and Kaia Sartori (#10) helped defensively with 3 digs.
The Saints controlled momentum with strong serving and balanced offense, but the Bluejays worked hard to stay in system and create opportunities. Several long rallies energized the home crowd and showed Waseca’s ability to compete point-for-point during stretches of the match.
