The spotlight will shine on one of southern Minnesota’s fiercest rivalries this week, as Waseca and Fairmont have been selected by the Star Tribune as one of three “Games of the Week” in Minnesota high school football. Kickoff is set for Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Mahoney Field in Fairmont.
Joining the Bluejays and Cardinals on the marquee are matchups between Chanhassen and Waconia and Triton and Caledonia.
For decades, Waseca and Fairmont have built a tradition of close, hard-fought contests dating back to their South Central Conference days. In recent years, the rivalry has reached new heights, with regular-season battles often followed by postseason rematches with a trip to state on the line.
