Homecoming King and Queen

Waseca High School wrapped up a spirited Homecoming Week with a full slate of events that brought students, staff, alumni, and the community together in celebration of Bluejay pride. The highlight came Thursday evening in the Junior-Senior High School Gymnasium, where Chloe Roemhildt and Deron Russell were crowned the 2025 Bluejay Homecoming Queen and King.

The coronation began with junior escorts Lillian Schultz and Evan Byron leading the way, before the presentation of this year’s candidates. King candidates included Slade Barnett, Ethan Hiller, Jordan Johnston, Cyrett Long, Deron Russell, and Caleb Wulf. Queen candidates were Paige Dufault, Meraina Hiller, Layla Keith, Katie Olson, Chloe Roemhildt, and Ellery Waldron. After the crowning ceremony, students celebrated with the annual Homecoming Dance.

The coronation was just one piece of a week packed with tradition and energy. Students took part in themed dress-up days, the Bluejay Breakfast, and the 4th Annual Homecoming Bags Tournament. Held under the lights on the field, the tournament drew a record 130 teams, with Gavin Barto and Sam Selthun emerging as champions. Students also received free admission to all home sporting events, thanks to support from the Waseca School Board and administration.

Friday carried the spirit forward with a senior breakfast hosted by parents of the Homecoming Court and made possible by the Student Council, Kwik Trip, 212, and Casey’s. Later in the day, the pep fest brought the school together to rally support for the Bluejay football team.

Alumni celebrating milestone reunions were honored throughout the week. Members of the Classes of 1976, 1995, 2001, and 2016 joined the parade and pep fest before being recognized during the football game. Alumni filled the endzone to cheer on the Bluejays, showcasing the lasting bond of the Bluejay community.

From the crowning of King and Queen to alumni recognition and record-setting student participation, Homecoming 2025 was a true celebration of tradition, pride, and community spirit.

Once a Bluejay…Always a Bluejay.
