Girls Soccer Score

The Waseca Girls Soccer team wrapped up the regular season on a high note with a 4–1 victory over Tri-City United.

The Bluejays jumped out to a fast start, with Angelica Lopez scoring in the 3rd minute and Rachel Mielke adding another just two minutes later to give Waseca an early 2–0 advantage.

Tri-City United responded late in the first half, cutting the deficit in the 37th minute when Guadalupe Lopez found the back of the net. The Titans nearly equalized moments later after being awarded a penalty kick. Following a yellow card to Ella Bulfer for impediment in the box, TCU’s Lopez stepped up to the spot, but Waseca backup goalkeeper Lilly Muff made a clutch save and then quickly smothered the rebound to preserve the lead heading into halftime.

The Jays extended their advantage in the 59th minute when Rylee Schaffer struck from distance to make it 3–1. Waseca added to their tally again in the 72nd minute, as Schaffer delivered a beautiful cross that Mielke finished for her second goal of the night, giving the Bluejays a 4–1 victory.

This result avenges an earlier 4–1 loss to the Titans on September 9th. Waseca finishes the regular season with a record of 5-9-1 overall and 1-4-1 in Big South Conference Black Division play.

The Bluejays will next compete in the Section 1AA Quarterfinals on Tuesday, October 7th. Section tournament seedings will be announced on Sunday, October 5th.
