Cross Country Recap

The Waseca Cross Country teams hosted their lone home meet of the season on Thursday at Lakeside and turned in strong performances against a competitive field. The meet also served as Senior Day, where the Bluejays honored their three seniors — Kelsey Draeger, Wyatt Hager, and Tre Porter — for their commitment and leadership to the program.

Boys Race

The Bluejay boys placed 4th out of 6 teams, led by a top-10 finish from Keenan Collins, who crossed in 10th place with a time of 19:32.9. Close behind was Wyatt Hager, earning 11th place at 19:38.7.

Other Bluejay finishers included:

  • Luke Feldkamp – 23rd place, 21:52.5

  • Korbin Collins – 27th place, 22:35.4

  • Sam Feldkamp – 34th place, 24:08.6

  • Tre Porter – 44th place, 34:21.0

Girls Race

The Bluejay girls packed the top of the leaderboard and showed impressive depth, finishing with nine runners in the top 25. Their strong effort earned them 1st place as a team out of the five complete teams.

Leading the charge was Stella Omtvedt, who placed 4th overall in 20:27.7, followed by Maren Schimming in 5th (21:06.6) and Ellie Kopischke in 7th (21:41.0).

Rounding out Waseca’s scoring group were:

  • Quinn Yoder – 11th, 22:39.3

  • Ava VanDenHemel – 12th, 22:43.3

  • Taylor Markeson – 15th, 23:18.5

  • Leah Wilson – 17th, 23:46.5

  • Jenna Yoder – 19th, 24:00.9

  • Kelsey Draeger – 23rd, 24:20.9

  • Violet Rohwer – 29th, 25:28.1

  • Najorie Lacy – 44th, 35:30.5

Both Bluejay teams will return to action at the Jordan Invitational on Tuesday, October 7th at 4:00 p.m.
