Volleyball Score

The Waseca volleyball team defended its home court in commanding fashion Thursday night, sweeping Blue Earth Area 3-0 in Big South Conference play.

Set scores were 25-22, 25-19, and 25-20 as the Bluejays maintained control throughout the match to earn the win.

As a team, the Bluejays posted a .137 hitting percentage while holding Blue Earth Area to just .016. Waseca finished with 22 assists, nine aces, 66 digs, seven blocks, and a 90.4 percent serving mark, showcasing a balanced effort on both sides of the ball.

Senior Ellery Waldron paced the Bluejays’ attack with a .269 hitting percentage, adding 10 digs, two aces, and a 1.55 serve-receive rating. Alyssa Kilmer was perfect offensively with a 1.000 hitting percentage and also contributed 12 digs and an ace. Tajha Nelson anchored the back row, leading the team with 17 digs while posting a 1.75 serve-receive rating.

Other contributors included Madalynn Root (five digs, three assists), Avery Barto (12 digs, two aces), Ashley Fliflet (four digs, two assists), Savanna Vagts (two assists, one dig), Audri Willingham (one dig), Asia Mayberry (two digs, one kill), and Remy Murphy (two digs, two assists).

With the victory, the Bluejays improve their record to 3-18 overall, 2-2 in Section 2AA play, and 0-6 in the Big South Conference Black Division. They return to action next Tuesday at home against NRHEG, with C and B squads starting at 6:00 p.m. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m. for their annual Dig Pink Night.
