Waseca High School and the Waseca Bluejays are deeply saddened by the passing of longtime former head football coach Terry Kermit Gilbertson, who passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, surrounded by family.
Coach Gilbertson was a cornerstone of Waseca athletics and an instrumental figure in building the Waseca Football program into what it is today. During his more than 25 years as Head Football Coach, he led the Bluejays to four South Central Conference Championships and inspired countless student-athletes with his leadership, integrity, and love for the game. Even after retiring in 1996, Coach Gilbertson remained the Bluejays’ biggest supporter and a proud advocate for Waseca athletics. His impact on our school and community will be felt for generations.
