The Waseca Bluejays wrestling team opened their tournament season at the Blue Earth Area Dick Maher Invitational on Saturday, December 6. The event marked the start of what promises to be an exciting couple of months of wrestling in our area. Below is a breakdown of the Bluejays’ varsity performances:
139 – Deven Parpart
Finished the day 3–1, earning 3rd place.
145 – Jacob Knutson
Posted a 2–2 record and placed 4th.
152 – Braxton Nelson
Went 3–2 on the day, securing 5th place.
160 – Sam Selthun
Finished 1–3 and placed 6th.
172 – Slade Barnett
Went a perfect 3–0 on the day to win the championship at his weight.
189 – Ton Bethke & Alex Bethke
Both competed in the 189 bracket.
• Ton Bethke finished 2–2, placing 4th.
• Alex Bethke went 3–1 and took 3rd place.

215 – Lucas Selthun & Landan Madsen
