Bluejay Gymnastics Opens Season With Strong Performances Despite Falling to Worthington
The Bluejay Gymnastics team opened its season Friday night with a competitive showing, despite Worthington edging out the meet 138.55 to 128.875. The night featured multiple standout performances, personal bests, and a strong foundation for the season ahead.
Waseca was led in the all around by Layla Keith, who posted a 33.9 to finish third. Hannah Parks followed with a 31.65 (4th), while Katelyn Weber recorded a 31.5 (5th) and Avery Carda added a 31.325 (6th). Ellie Clark delivered a personal-best 31.035 to place seventh.
Vault was a highlight event for the Bluejays. Keith scored a 9.0 to take second, and Clark hit a personal-best 8.7 for seventh. Weber added an 8.5 to finish eighth.
On bars, Keith scored an 8.2, and Carda earned a 7.5 for sixth place. On beam, Keith secured third with an 8.3, followed by Parks (7.575, 7th) and Weber (7.45, 8th).
The floor exercise brought more strong scores, as both Keith and Clark posted 8.4s to tie for fifth, with Clark marking another personal best. Carda added an 8.325 for sixth, and Weber followed closely with an 8.25 for seventh.
The Bluejays return to action this Friday when they host Big South Conference opponent Marshall at the Waseca Intermediate School Gymnastics Center. Action begins at 6:00 p.m.
