Layla Keith set a new school record on the floor exercise and led the Waseca Bluejays to a 132.225–123.600 victory over St. Peter on Tuesday night at the Waseca Intermediate School.
Waseca controlled the meet with balanced scoring across all four events, posting team totals of 35.15 on vault, 30.05 on bars, 31.175 on beam and a meet-best 35.85 on floor. St. Peter finished with scores of 33.4 on vault, 26.275 on bars, 31.675 on beam and 32.25 on floor.
Keith captured the all-around title with a score of 34.875. Teammate Hannah Parks placed third with a 32.775, while Ellie Clark finished fourth overall with a 32.525, giving the Bluejays three of the top four all-around finishers.
On the vault, Keith paced Waseca with a first-place score of 9.05. Clark followed in second with an 8.825, and Katelyn Weber added a third-place finish with an 8.7.
Keith also claimed first place on the uneven bars with an 8.425. Weber finished third with a 7.25, and Parks placed fourth at 7.225.
Parks led the Bluejays on the balance beam, earning an 8.275 to top Waseca’s performers in the event. Keith added a fourth-place finish with a 7.8.
The highlight of the meet came on the floor exercise, where Keith delivered a record-setting routine. Her score of 9.6 established a new school record and marked a new personal best, earning her first place in the event. Parks followed with a strong 9.0, and Clark recorded a personal-best 8.95 to place fourth.
The Bluejays will return to action on Thursday, February 5, when they host Blue Earth Area at the Waseca Intermediate School. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
