Waseca staged a dramatic late-game comeback to defeat Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 10–9, scoring three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning after trailing 9–7 entering the final half.
The game featured multiple momentum swings throughout. Waseca struck first with a run in the 1st inning, but WEM responded with a big 3rd inning, plating four runs to take control. Waseca answered in the bottom half with three runs of their own to even things up. WEM continued to apply pressure, adding one run in the 4th and three more in the 5th, while Waseca kept pace with two runs in the 5th and another in the 6th to stay within striking distance. After WEM pushed across a run in the top of the 7th to take a 9–7 lead, Waseca delivered the decisive blow in the bottom half with three runs to walk it off.
Offensively, the Bluejays were relentless, racking up 22 hits. Jaiden Schafer led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Logan Reger and Riley Mitchell each contributed three hits, while Kaden Garza added three RBIs. Kallen Glynn also recorded three hits and drove in a run, highlighting Waseca’s depth throughout the lineup.
WEM totaled 12 hits and drew eight walks, with Jackson Dahl and Noah Lanham leading the charge.
On the mound, Logan Reger went five innings for Waseca, striking out six, while Kamerin Ferch closed out the final two innings and was credited with the win. This marked Waseca’s first win of the season.
Today’s scheduled game vs. Triton has been postponed due to inclement weather forecast to impact the area later this evening. The Bluejays (1–2) will now travel to Montgomery on Tuesday to take on the Tri-City United Titans at 5:30 p.m.
